I have to admit that blogging is not my specialty, and my apologies to all my AWESOME clients whom I've photographed over the past 5 months who have not received a post all their own. I have so many of you to thank for your business, continued support and referrals. I've been working on a new website, logo and blog...and I'll promise to post a fave (or two or three) of your session from this past year. It'll start things off 'right'.

Puppy Love

During a fun mother's day mini session, Jacob had some stiff competition...his new puppy, Dory. Being an adorable golden retriever...I had to give her a little photo op. Here are the two of them playing together...new best friends! Running, jumping and hugging...big hugs. Like, Elmyra from tiny toons ("I'm going to hug you and squeeze you and love you to pieces....")

Mother's Day Mini #2

Mother's Day Sessions were so fun...and there was no exception when it came to documenting Sonja and Ryan. Sonja is a cousin of Jeannette, who's maternity, newborn and family photos I have taken this past year. I love it when clients are so excited about referring friends and family. Best compliment ever! ;)Ryan was a little leary of getting in the grass, but mom's sweet kisses gave him the courage. This was literally is first time laying in the grass. What a new world!
He was definitely curious with his surroundings...but oh, so cute at the same time.

Grass and weeds were definitely a delicacy today...and I'm sure the feel of it on his hands was just the coolest. From curiosity to ripping plants out of the ground and tasting them...took all of seconds. That's a boy for ya! ;)

Thanks again Sonja for allowing me to document Ryan at 7 months and to capture some priceless moments. I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day! He's a lucky little boy!

Mother's Day Mini #1

The minute I met this family, I knew they we were going to have a fun time. Such great personalities, so sweet, full of adventure and beautiful inside and out. Seattle also decided to bless us with such a warm and sun-filled day... and the combination of great people and weather...simply perfect.Mom was so fun loving and had a special bond with her little ones. The family recently returned from a trip to Mexico, (where Mom is from) and phrases of spanish were intermingled into conversations. I LOVE that she is raising her kids bilingual. Awesome!Her baby boy, Joaquin ...such a cutie.Looking at this smile, makes me smile. I think this is one of my favorites from the session. PRECIOUS...and it happened in a split second. Paloma and Joaquin...two little gems.
Paloma (such an adorable name) was a great bundle of energy, but this moment was so sweet and serene. Joaquin only had eyes for mommy. ;)Little fun family time down by the beach.Dad pushing Paloma around on the zip line swing. Watch out Wall Street!

I had the best honor of being able to join Emily, her mom and sister at a gorgeous farm in Issaquah for Emily's SENIOR session. This isn't an ordinary senior session. See, Emily is 19 and never got to be a senior in highschool. She was on the fast track and started college at age 16. WHAAT? Yeah, that's what I said. Not only is she gorgeous, she's uber smart too. So, this senior session was a present from her mom, to honor her senior year at University of Washington, where she'll be graduating from in June. Straight out of college, she'll be heading to the Big Apple to work on WALL STREET. Amazing! I showed this picture to Emily immediately after I took it, and she said 'I love it! That's my favorite!' (I love it too Emily)Put your financial trust in with Emily, you could be living the high life ;).

A couple of business shots. I'm sure she'll put those boys on Wall Street to shame.

Simply stunning. Such a pretty smile and piercing blue eyes.

One of my favorite parts of the session was being able to photograph Emily with her favorite pets. I being a horse person myself, loved being able to capture the bond between her and her horse, Adobe. Love how both their eyes are closed, her hand on his chin. Such a sweet moment.

Everything about this photo makes my heart melt as well.

Probably one of my favorite photos of the day...however, so hard to choose. ;)

Thanks again Emily for allowing me to capture some fun memories and some beautiful photos of you, your pets, your sis (Melanie...below). You're such a sweetie and I know you'll have a blast in NYC. Best wishes for a successful career and make sure to call your mom often, I know she's going to miss you bunches!

Vegas- trash the dress session

During my first trip to WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International), I was given the opportunity to join some fun and fabulous photographers (from Mexico, S.Cal and Dominican Republic) to do a trash the dress session. My gorgeous photographer friend, Heather, was the awesome model for this session. We got to hit the vegas strip during sunset, for a fast a furious photo session...and here are a few of those shots. This was my favorite of the evening!Heather was such a great sport and looked so naturally beautiful.Gotta love the extras in the shots!A little flirting with the Hooters bill board guy never hurt anyone ;).This was one of my favorite locations, the architechture and lighting was awesome.Love the rich colors and patterns...MGM Grand.Thanks guys for such a fun time and I look forward to seeing you again next year at WPPI.

On the 9th day of Christmas...Rachel and Coby (mother and son) show their deep bond, embraced in a loving hug. I adore this moment captured...probably one of my favorites!My beautiful friend Rachel - an awesome mother, amazing person, a super sweet and giving friend, intelligent, athletic and starting to become a rockstar snow boarder! ;) Needless to say, the list goes on and on. Her handsome son, Coby. Super bright, artisitic, funny and loves his momma.Love capturing those fun, silly, great laugh, kind of moments.Coby necessarily wasn't into the whole 'photo session' thing...but I still managed to get some super fun ones. I'm sure this one will make the Holiday card this year. Totally heart this photo!

KATY = CUTIEI had such a fun time being able to capture all of Katy's personality. She one of those kids that, when you point a camera at them...they have that ' CHEESE smile'...not necessarily a sincere one. But, once you start entertaining them, letting them run around, show off...just be kids...their true personality shines! THAT's what I love! Davidson Family- holiday mini session

Mud and Chocolate

Last weekend I was a proud participant, and the unofficial/official photographer, of the first annual MUD AND CHOCOLATE run. Put on by the fabulous Nina...who is not only one of my best friends, but an amazing running coach! Nina's love of Chocolate and running, couldn't have come together in a better fashion. The plan, run a 4.5mi or 13.1 mi trail run, in the mud...and at the end...indulge in chocolate...of all kinds. Come on, who can say no to that?! Brilliant!Her wonderful husband, Jon, is such a huge supporter and helped out with all the fun details of the day's events.NRG running and Everyday Athlete...proud sponsors of the event.Before pictures, of all the cute gators...all clean.People came in all sorts of fun gear, ready for the wet weather, and getting muddy.And muddy they were!This gal was such a huge fan, she even had her own t-shirt designed for the event. Love it!Of course, I have to agree with the shirt. I did the race myself, but I knew what was waiting for me at the finish line. All sorts of chocolate!The best piece of chocolate...was the gold chocolate medal that everyone received. Such fun!

On my trip to Atlanta, I was able to photograph some fun sessions....and this one came about through the magical world of facebook. A girl that I had gone to highschool with mentioned she loved my photography and if I was in town, would love to hire me. Having just got married (and having lots of photos already) she suggested to her husband to do a session with his siblings, as a present for his family. What a great gift! And what fun it was! Here are some of the cute presents they will be able to share with their family this year. Here's Mia...the cutest little barker! ;)

Cute lil' punkins

Remember sweet baby Clara and her parents, Dean and Judy... here she is at 8 months old, visiting her first pumpkin patch...and she herself...is an adorable little punkin.

We braved the MUD, and more mud...and even more...to be able to enjoy a wonderful fall day amongst pumpkins, cornfields, and to get some fun family photos. Nothing like a crisp fall day with some apple cider, kettle corn, and picking out that perfect pumpkin.

Clara's first pumpkin patch trip was very 'serious'...

Sweet gift to remember

My Aunt's good friend, Lisa, and her husband Tim are leaving the neighborhood and a house they've called home...for so many years. It's tough to move after building so many memories, strong friendships and sense of community. But that community...and those friends decided to come together and give them a sweet gift to remember...a family photo session. With their 3 kids, and the addition of Bradey (the golden)... here are some of my favorites. I love how this picture shows all 3 personalities. Brady, the cutest puppy!

Baby Cole

Elizabeth- Senior Photos

Elizabeth is a beautiful gal, whose family I've photographed over the past 2 years. I was super excited and honored to be able to take Elizabeth's Senior photos and since I already knew her personality...I immediately thought of heading to the train station in Snoqualmie for her session. She was all in! With a classy and fun style, we were able to compliment her beauty with some fun backgrounds and scenery. She rocked every photo!

I feel like I'm starting a new diary ... from a hiatus of several years. So much to catch up on, where to start? Do I go back to where I left off? And why has it been so long? With 20+ sessions and weddings to share, this blog should have been on FIRE! But, it's been cold for sometime b/c of a new found friend....FACEBOOK. Yes, facebook has taken over and has consumed all of the highlights and sessions. Uploading full galleries of photos has been such a treat and I love being able to share them with my clients asap...for all their friends and family to see, comment on...and ooh and ahh over their favorites. I've learned though recently, I need to share the wealth...through all avenues of lovely cyberspace...so folks, I'm back. ;) Ready to share with you my awesome clients and their beautiful memories. Tomorrow, I'll post some favorites from the past couple months ... and they may be repeats for some of you following me on Facebook ( and if you haven't become a 'fan' yet...you can do so.)

Turning in my old life for a new one!

For the past several months I have been working with a business coach, Dane Sanders. He is the author of the Fast Track Photographer, has a hugely successful photography business, and has recently branched into the world of workshops. He's utterly fabulous and has such a wealth of knowledge. He not only talks about business, but is helping me define WHO I am...way down to the core, emotional level. He asks permission to help me confront my demons...calls me out when I make excuses (and i usually have a lot) and in some ways provides tough love. But I'll tell you, I'm all for tough love. Emotionally, it does a number on me, but it's what I need and what I want for myself.

I will flat out admit that I have sought approval from others to validate who I am...pretty much, most of my life. Not often enough do I validate myself for just being me...and that me is good enough. That can be such a limiting factor in relationships, business endevours and truly finding success and happiness in life. So today, I was challenged to 'turn in my old life for a new one'...and I accepted the challenge. Sounds hokey, but I'm a believer.

I will write a list of all the things that I have felt hold me back, things that I feel are 'flaws' (physical, emotional, subconscious acts, etc.) and I will literally take this list (and in my case, I will be going to a church) and turn in this list...and ask if I can start over with a new life. Sounds uncomfortable to me, don't you think? I'm totally squirming in my chair thinking how awkward that sounds, and how the person on the receiving end of that letter is going to look at me. I can hear them now...'Um...ok...whatever'. LOL ! But, I've been living in a world of a 'comfort' and it hasn't done me much good...so i need to get uncomfortable to have a better life...for me.

What does this have to do with photography? Oddly enough, everything! How I view myself will ultimately come across to others. It's hard to live a double life and internally tell yourself one thing, but try to project another. I can't tell you how many other friends/photographers struggle with these same demons. Luckily I have been fortunate (blessed) enough to confront them. Today, I challenge you to do the same...and would love to hear about it. Heck, I could be the one you send me your list and I will grant you permission to start a new life (yes, I have that kind of power...tee hee). See, I'm already believing in myself.

It's funny, I didn't at all intend to write about this...I really wanted to share with you an exercise I did with writing down 400 words or less about how I want to be viewed in the photography world...and I'll share that at the end. But I think it's less important how others view me (granted, I want people to love my work, love me and want to hire me), but it's more important how I view myself...and to forgive myself of my 'faults'. I am however, human...and will never be perfect, and that's ok. I forgive my messy desk, the piles of paper, and my disorganization. I forgive myself that the grass that hasn't been mowed, that I haven't yet lost the 5 lbs I wanted to lose, and the the rest of my list that goes on. Wow, it's very cathartic to write this stuff. And, for the first time, I'm not concerned about how others will view it...b/c it was helpful for me.

I want to send a big THANK YOU to my friend Dane, for helping me face this nasty little demon. I feel great things are about to occur! Bring on my new life!

(btw...Dane is conducting these workshops all over the country and I highly recommend attending. The cost is ONLY $750, but you get so much more out of it, and literally almost $2000 in product/services as well. How can you beat that? The Seattle workshop will be the last day of Sept, first of Oct.)

As for my 400 word exercise of how I want to be viewed in the photography world...here's what I wrote:

I thought about the question: What/who I want to be in the photo world. And although I want to be 'somebody' in the 'photo world', I realized that trying to reach superstar status is not me. So, I want to be admired by other photographers and be able to hang with some of the greats, but I really want to be BIG in the eyes of clients hiring me. To them, I want to be the person who is able to walk into their world and be able to objectively capture their personalities, their love, their quirkinesses, and candid moments. All while having a fun, relaxed time by lessening the intimidation factor of the camera and letting their natural personalities shine. I want their responses to the photos they see to be jaw dropping, to shed a tear, or to have a huge smile to take over their face. I want them to hear the laughter through the picture, have a viceral response, remember that moment with more detail than before and to really 'appreciate' and 'love' the fact these moments were captured. When they see their photos, I want them to feel special...like they just won the lottery. I also hope to create relationships that allow me to come back into their world, time and time again. With or without the camera by myside. I want a BIG hug at the end of the session/day and to be welcomed back with open arms. Word of mouth referrals are the best ...and I hope that my clients would shout my name and share me with all of their friends and family...as the BEST photographer (in their world at least) ;).

My 101st Blog post

Wish I could say that my 101st blog post was going to be a doozy...but at the moment, I'm swamped with TEN photo sessions to edit from the past TWO weeks. It's a good thing...a GREAT thing and I'm loving the repeat business and all the word of mouth referrals. My clients are the best...THE BEST!!! Thank you to all of you out there who are supporting me and my adventures with my photography business. It's growing...quickly and to think where I started just two years ago, I'm proud of how much I've accomplished.

Here's a little bit of what I've been up too....enjoy! And please feel free to leave any comments, questions or topics that you'd like me to talk about. I'm going to start 'talking' more in blog...not just about the amazing people I get to meet, and the adorable, cute, fun, sassy, beautiful photos I get to take of them...but I'll share more about ME. The person behind the camera...the reason people actually like to hire me (so I've been told). So, stay tuned for a little change in pace, a different voice and I'll still provide you with some great pics and fun stories behind them.

A Mother's Day Treat: Family Photo Session

About a month or so before Mother's Day, I got the sweetest email from Carl asking about doing a photo session of him and his daughter as a surprise for his wife, a Mother's Day present. I absolutely loved the idea. We emailed back and forth and realized, it would also be fun to incorporate the whole family in the session...but still keeping it a surprise.

So, with some scheming...Carl and I came up with a plan. Carl met me the day before Mother's Day, and we had a 15 min. photo session with him and his daughter, Tia. With a quick edit and passing off of a CD...Carl ran to a photo print shop, printed off this above photo...had it framed...and get this ladies, took it to the restaurant where he had it placed at their 'reserved table' for Mother's Day breakfast. So, when Amber, his wife, walked in...there it was...already waiting. Can we say...adorable??!!
The story doesn't end there. The other part of the Mother's Day present was that Carl had scheduled a family photo session for later that morning. Amber was a true sport, and with a quick change, getting everyone ready for smiling, enjoying the session and lookin' cute...we met at a park and had a fun, relaxed session. And the moments that were captured...too cute!Love the Mother-Daughter bonding. Those smiles are killer!Little snuggling on the blanket.After a little family bonding...it was Tia's time to shine......and shine she does. Her smile immediately brings a smile to your own face. Tia was a bit concerned about the grass when she was first placed in it. It was still a bit dewy, but she warmed up to it quickly.First, the concerned pouty look...but oh so cute.
Then, the smiles broke out...
...and became uncontrollable laughter...for all of us.

...that she completely fell over laughing. Love it!

If you haven't noticed before...little edible toes are just so precious.

And, Tia found her's quite fascinating too.
Needless to say, a day at the park on Mother's Day was such a treat. Thank you Carl for setting up this wonderful day. Thank you Amber for your beautiful smiles and being such a great sport and to Miss Tia...thanks for the all the giggles. I hope you all enjoy the family memories.

Newborn: Baby Grayson

Baby Grayson...at this point and time probably looks sooo different since he was born in Feb. However, that's the beauty of newborn photos...to capture the earliest days, those days that seem to pass too quickly. Here are some sweet memories of Grayson at 2 weeks old with mom and dad. His adorable little pouty lips, that cute little chin and button nose. So tiny, so innocent.

Wedding: Laney and Tim

It was such an honor to be able to be a witness and capture the beautiful wedding of Laney and Tim. They are such a sweet, loving and extremely happy couple. Laney and Tim met eachother in an 'untraditional' yet seemingly more common way these days...good ol' Match.com. However, Laney would prefer that they met at a race...so, we'll just go with that. ;)

The wedding day was on a cold, blustery, rainy Seattle day...however, the smiles on everyone's faces and the excitement in the air did not elude to the elements outside. It was still a 'perfect day'.

The excitement of donning the dress brought huge smiles to everyone's faces.

Laney looked so gorgeous and radiant...and the look on her mom's face is absolutely priceless. Her little girl...all grown up and getting married.

The guys were clearly excited as well...

Laney and her bridesmaids, including her brother, Casey, who is her all time best friend. Their relationship is so incredibly special, that it's heart warming just to watch them interact with one another. Although Casey is her younger brother, he is her protector...and today, along with Laney's dad, he gave his sister away to Tim.

The best part of the day is the 'first look'...it's such a special time to see one another, aside from the chaos...and allows for a time to just be together. There is such an incredible sequence that was captured of the first look, but I think this says it all...the excitement, the tears...the flooding of emotion.

During the wedding ceremony...this chest was presented as a commitment from Laney and Tim to eachother...to open cards that they wrote to eachother, on their wedding day, to remind eachother WHY they loved eachother so much and chose to spend their lives together. This chest is to be opened (with a bottle of wine), on their 10 year anniversary...or if there are struggles in the relationship (aka: "in case of emergency"). I'm sure it will be a fabulous 10 year anniversary gift!

Mentoring...

Who knew that I would ever become a 'mentor' ? I mean, I've always wanted to inspire others, and I hope that I can leave a positive impression on people...but mentoring adds a great deal of responsibility...and I'm so excited to become one!

First and foremost, I want to sincerely thank everyone who submitted their response for why they would love to be mentored. It was an honor to be able to offer this...and truly a super difficult decision to decide who to choose. No doubt I've been in everyone's shoes, at some point or another, and just needed that extra little push. I still do...and that's why I've joined teams with Dane Sanders to be coached. Part of my coaching is to be able to coach/mentor another individual...and I'm excited to say that my new mentee will be (drum roll please...)

Michelle Zeserson Riddle (http://www.michelleriddlephoto.com). Michelle is a wonderful photographer and has a true talent for photographing children and families. She lives in Santa Cruz, CA, is a full time mother of 3 gorgeous children, and is married to a wonderful husband who completely supports her business. In one year, Michelle went from zero to 60 with her business... I can only imagine the future success she will have.

Congratulations Michelle and I'm so excited to work with you!

Everyone who submitted an entry has amazing talent (I checked out everyone's websites) and I know that if you continue to do what you love, you will be fulfilled and successful! My advice is for each of you to seek the support of your peers, begin your own networking system with other photographers or join the ones online like Fast Track Photographers http://www.fasttrackphotographers/. Network, network, network!

There are so many resources out there and if you haven't already read the book Fast Track Photographer by Dane Sanders, then I highly recommend you do...I mean REALLY recommend, A #1, it should be a first priority! The information in there will transform how you think, feel and go about your business. My business, is going to be getting on the FAST TRACK!

Jacob turns ONE!

You know you're dealing with a little boy when your day consists of getting 'steam rolled'.

Well, Jacob (you may remember his newborn photos and photos with his cousin, Stella) is definitely a little boy now...he's ONE!

He may still have a baby face...but he's growing up.

And he's got a killer personality. So funny, full of smiles and boy mischief.

He's intrigued with anything that's electronic, blinks, beeps or makes noise. I mean, who wouldn't be?

And best of all, Jacob is now walking...a true toddler.
He just LOVES his alligator walker (the alligator mouths snap as he walks). He gets so into it

and gets the best facial expression. Get ready, set...walk...and pure elation overrides him.

Although Jacob is turning out to be a great walker, today was his first time in SHOES.

Yes, the first.

He was very unsure of them, but gave them a good test drive. Somewhat walking like a cat with tape stuck on his paws (not that I ever did that to my cats growing up ;) ). Such intense concentration when playing with his toys

He won't be in that crib too much longer...but for now, he loves playing in it.

Remember Nina, the 'gorgeous, sexy, strong, loving mother-to-be' ? Her little one is here (and now 2 months old).

He is AD-OR-ABLE...such a boy, looks so much like his daddy but definitely has mommy's gorgeous eyes. Purely loveable!

These photos were taken at 1 week and 3 weeks old.

Nina was meant to be a mother! She still radiants that gorgeous, sexy, strong, lovingness...but she is now... a mother...and she has a perfect little son. Lochlan will undoubtably use these cute tootsies for lots of running around...he has to if he wants to keep up with his Mom and Dad.

Those pouty lips, that round little chin and cute button nose...see, I told you...AD-OR-ABLE.

Nina and I were crying...literally tears streaming from our face after I showed her these photos. Lochlan already has a knack for putting smiles on faces.

I recently joined Nina for lunch and Lochlan made my new favorite face, he has the one sided smile. I wish...oh how I wish I had my camera at that point. That smile was a lady killer! I'll capture that smile soon...just you wait!

Jon is an amazing Daddy. Nina so appreciates a husband who is so involved, so loving, so patient, protective, and so caring. She also thinks he's pretty hot too. ;)

MENTORS and MENTORING

Two years ago I never thought it possible that I would be focusing (no pun intended) my life in the direction of photography. It's a passion, a true love but I never new I could be making a living off of it too. "You mean, you actually can DO WHAT YOU LOVE?" I've heard about people doing that before, but it's always been ingrained that I need to do something that will allow me to be financially stable. I suppose that makes sense, esp. b/c I love to travel, and if I'm going to travel (and photograph those travels), I would need money...meaning, get a financially stable job. Ok, so I did just that. Got my Master's in Physical Therapy and then started a corporate career with medical device companies working as a clinical specialist. Granted, I've been doing something that I like, but not truly LOVE.

One day I ran across MeRa Koh blog, and I was instantly drawn to her. She offered courses in beginners photography...for woman...and I had to go. I attended one of her fabulous workshops and since then, my life has has been forever changed. I felt energized, a visceral gut feeling of wow...I want to pursue a career in photography...this is MY CALLING. MeRa is a superhero to me, and I don't think she knows enough how she inspired me to start my own business. Literally, the week after the course I launched my blog and my business.

Realizing my calling is to be the best children, family and wedding photographer, I needed to take the appropriate steps, I needed direction. I started working with a business coach, MeRa's business coach...and a brilliant one at that. Karen Buckley and I have been working together for over a year and a half. Karen provided me the stepping stones it took to start a business. I loved taking pictures, but the business side of things was a whole new ball game...and I was honored to have Karen guide me.

Karen has even recently started helping women realize their potential with her seminars (Wisdom Connection). Working with Karen has given me so many of the tools I need to get my business in great working order. I wouldn't be where I am today without her!

One of the biggest barriers with turning my photography business into a full time endeavour... which was the amount of hours I had to give to my corporate day job (remember that financial thing...). We're talking 50-70 hours a week...and then I was doing the photography thing on weekends. That has changed (some), and as of recent, I was laid off. Yep, I too was one of those people affected by the economy. However, I was lucky b/c I was offered a per diem job with this same company. Could there be a bigger blessing in disguise? I can work when I want to, still make some money, and now REALLY FOCUS on my photography business until I'm truly ready for it to become full time. WHICH WILL BE SOON....WATCH ME!

Now it's time to buckle down, get serious and plan for my future. And these experiences couldn't have happened at a better time. So, to take it serious, not only am I working with Karen, but as of this month, I am involved with one-on-one coaching with Dane Sanders. Dane is an amazing photographer out of Orange County and he is the founder of the Fast Track Photographers, which I happen to be a member of . Dane is offers the most incredible knowledge to help newbie photographers get on the FAST TRACK to starting their photography business. Dane will be a huge compliment the coaching I have received from Karen...and MeRa...and all those other fabulous photographers out there who have given me advice, wisdom, tips, tricks and tools.

Dane is hard core...and I mean that in the greatest sense ever! He's thorough, no BS, and is extremely thought provoking. With the coaching, I have one-on-one conference calls, I receive 'homework', I get to work with a group of 4 others who are getting mentored and best of all, I get to share this knowledge with another photographer...to become a mentor myself.

Now here's where the special comes in...

All the fabulous knowledge I receive from Dane, I GET to to turn around and share with someone for FREE! Now I get to be a MENTOR!

I am on the search for that individual who is interested in that mentor ship. Someone who is really ready to jump start their photography business and to be the best. The best is subjective word...but we all should strive for the BEST. I am, and that's why I'm honored to be able to receive this coaching from Dane, and to offer it to someone else. Could that person be you?

WELCOME BABY CLARA- 1-day old!

The minute I arrived back from my trip to Asia, I called Judy to see how she was doing. A soft, high-pitched yet joyous voice on the other end of the line said "We have a baby girl!" "She was born about 3 hours ago". The tears flowed..I was so excited for Dean and Judy on the arrival of their daughter, Clara.

Are you ready to meet her?Just a day old, the first glimpse of this precious little girl laying on her mothers chest, close to the heartbeat she's grown accustomed to lulling her, was a moment to stop time.
Dad's hands, able to now cradle his sweet little girl who he's longed to meet. He studies the intimate details of his child's eyes, cute button nose, and those precious little ears that hear him whisper "Daddy loves you".
What's not to love?
Even Bishop, just hours of meeting his new sister was such a welcoming soul...ready to share loads of kisses.

The contrast of such a tiny hand against her mother's...priceless. Only this once will she be so tiny.

My friends and now a Mother and Father...but first...

Two of my favorite people in the world, Dean and Judy...and to add to the family now, little Clara (she's here and well, but I'll save her for another post). I literally have known this two since their 1st 'date'... Judy was 'smarty pants', Dean was an 80's butt rocker and I was a Brownie. Times have since changed but along the way, I've loved watching their love blossom . To have been able to document each step has been such a treat...first date, engagement, marriage, soon-to-be parents and finally...parents!What a perfect representation of this family. Active, joyful, loving and full of smiles...Bishop too.

Uh oh Dean... How'd that happen?

Dean has been perfecting his love of guitar and loves to play nightly for Judy. Can you imagine the lullibies he's going to sing little Clara to sleep? Awww, makes my heart melt.Despite Clara coming into the world, Bishop will always be their beloved first child. So sweet!Judy has that radiant look ...so gorgeous.A classic photo, but none the less, so precious.Judy sitting in Clara's room, just contemplating the joy that will come into her life.

I know, I'm catching so much slack about not having posted a blog in some time. I didn't even get through journaling the rest of my Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand trip. Which, btw...was UNBELIEVABLE! With over 3000+ photos to sort through, 3 new born photo sessions and 2 maternity sessions that I'm editing...and lots of travel for my day job...I just haven't gotten around to it! Excuses, excuses.

Vietnam Vacation (days 1-5)

So far my trip to Vietnam has been such an experience. We arrived on the New year...and although we missed the actual celebration, people were still out partying in the streets, lighting paper laterns that lifted away and lit up the sky, people with HUGE and brightly colored balloons and motorcylists carrying multiple people and huge stalks of bamboo and kumkuat/orange trees. Fireworks were still popping in the background and paper money (fake) was being lit for good luck and in honor of dead ancestors.The following morning Kevin, Matt and I took a bus to Ha Long Bay and we prayed for our life the entire way. Our driver was insane, and obviously rules don't exist. The scenery was magnificent and the towns (although small) were clean and the houses are typically tall with only the side facing the street being painted. Since it was the new year, everyone was wearing new clothes and it was quite the fashion statement. The streets were pretty quiet since everyone was spending the holidays with family and the shops were closed. Three hours later, we arrived safely and boarded a 'junk boat' for our 2 day (overnight) tour of the islands and Ha long Bay. The boats were all a dark cherry wood and decorated with a cool Asian flare. The first order of business was lunch. All of our meals were served family style and it was great to talk to the other passengers at our table. People from all over the world. The scenery here was stunning... a 360 degree view of mountains jutting out of the water...for the most part, uninhabitable. We went to a cove where we got to climb up to a huge cave (with stalagtites/mites)...very cool!The weather has also been very cool...and although we were given the opportunity to seakayak...we opted to stay in the boat after our trip to the cave. That night, after dinner, we crashed early!The next day we traveled to an island, where the people only live off of tourism, and took a bus to a rural area where we boarded another boat and went to yet another cave. This one was not touristy though and our guide had to crank start a generator to light the inside of the cave. Once we got in, a few of us journeyed beyond what most people could. With only a flashlight (and our camera flashes) we crawled through a 16 inch slit in the rocks and entered into another part of the cave (again, filled with stalagtites/mites). I felt like I was in the Indian Jones and the Temple of Doom. I won't lie, it was a bit freaky. We actually crawled through two more similar holes and again, opened up into a unbelievable part of the cave. Only 5 out of the 11 of could fit through the holes, so once inside we took our time and explored all the details, pointed out by a local who led the way. Little did we know, we were freaking out our tour guide and all the others who didn't get to crawl through since we were gone for over 40 minutes.
When we finally crawled back to day light we walked back to our boat and traveled back to a house on stilts, which also was our lunch stop. WE had a wonderful meal prepared for us...however, we had quite a bit of fried food...their way of catoring to the 'Westerners'. After lunch we bussed through the windy roads along the valleys and hill tops of rural Vietnam and arrived at Cat Ba...a quaint town with beautiful hidden sandy beaches. The town itself was quiet b/c of the New year, but it was nice. We had the rest of the days to ourselves. Matt, Kevin and I got dropped off at our gorgeous hotel, over looking the water and the moutains protruding from the ocean. We went for a walk along the cliffside, to those hidden beaches and enjoyed the little sun we could. Had it only been 20 degrees warmer we would have been playing in the ocean! We continued our walk into town and enjoyed a beer at one of the few restaurants that were open. The rest of our tour group met up with us later that evening at the same place for dinner. When we arrived back at our hotel, we realized that the water was phosphoescent...and we ooohed and awwwed at the vibrant blue color it made when the waves crashed. It took me several tries, but I got some cool photos of the neon colors. When we walked in the sand where the wave had just crashed, you could see our footprints light up. It was fascinating!
THe next morning I woke up early and went on a run along the waterfront. A large number of the people live on house boats and they were all up early getting ready to start their day fishing. It was a great way to get a glimpse into their daily life. Our toured gathered back together and we boarded a bus and headed back through the windy roads to the other side of the island where we got back on our big boat. The rest of the day was spent going back to Ha Long Bay, and then getting back on a bus to Ha Noi. It was a long day, but well worth it. While most people slept on the bus, I enjoyed soaking in the scenery...rice patty fields, big mountains surrounding the valleys, colorful yet simple buildings, bright red banners streamed across the town reading, "Mung Chuc Nam Moi" (Happy New year), motorbikes packed with up to 4 people on each (many with infants just being held by their mother), farmers with their cattle or tending to their gardens and wearing the traditional woven cone shaped hat.
Today we got to see more of Ha Noi...we spent the whole day walking around town, checking out the local shops and markets (those that were open), saw the HoChi Mihn Museum, had a fabulous lunch at the coolest restaurant in town and then went to Hoa Lo prison (the prison that McCain was detained in for 5 years). As we were walking around, we stumbled across a huge New Year parade with all the traditional costumes, music and dances. Needless to say, I took a few pictures! Getting around town has been easy so far, however, crossing the street is always a challenge. It's like playing 'Frogger'...and you have to time it just right. The motorbikes are everywhere and again, there seems to be no rules...just GO. With all those bikes, there is a reason that so many people wear masks...the pollution is incredible, and we are still witnessing a quiet time of the year.
Tomorrow we are hopping on a plane to Ho Chi Mihn (aka. Saigon)...so I will continue to write about our journeys. For now, I will sleep. Good night!

Maternity Sneak Peek

What a beautiful and magical time ... to be pregnant. Carrying your child, helping them develop and grow, while all the while you accept and welcome how your body changes.

Nina has cared for her future son so diligently and she has become even more radiant and beautiful during this process. I was so honored to be able to take her maternity photos ... to document a time in her life that is forever life changing. Thank you Nina for trusting me to capture how gorgeous, sexy and fun a pregnant woman really is! I can not wait to meet your son ... and for him to have you as his mother ... what a lucky little boy!

I received numerous nominations of well deserving families fo my Christmas "Gift of Giving" ...and I wish I could post them all for you to read (it's so nice to know there is still so much goodness going on in the world)...but this particular one stuck in my head immediately! Since I still work in the medical community, I understand how difficult it is to take care of disabled children...on top of all of the other duties there are in life. This woman, Stacy, exemplifies the meaning of being a 'woman', a 'mother', a 'friend' and a true 'humanitarian'. I am honored to provide her and her family with a free photo session...and to give back to someone who is so giving!

I am an adoption social worker for the state and have seen many remarkable people over the past 12 years but woman bring tears to my eyes every time I think of how much she does for our community. She is a woman that puts most of us to shame. She is a stay at home mother and her husband works two jobs (so that she can afford to be home full-time to care for their disabled children). If memory serves me right, they have one birth child, three adopted children, and one current foster child. I was the social worker who facilitated the latest adoption. That child was has an older birth sibling that they had previously adopted. When the birth mother was pregnant with the second child, she contacted this family and asked them to adopt the new baby, which they said yes. They participated in prenatal appointments as well as the birth for the baby. They have been caring for that little boy since. That little boy, now two years old and is disabled with an unknown diagnosis. She takes him to Children’s hospital several times per month for more and more testing, each time for something worse. In the midst of the testing, she decided to help out the 3 Day walk (see below string of emails). The day before the 3 Day walk, I called and said I needed to come by her home for a last minute visit, which she said no problem. She failed to mention that she was attempting to make thousands of cookies for the 3 Day walk. While I was there, she was caring for about five children, one with the flu, and had a steady stream of visitors dropping of cookies by the masses. The little boy I worked with was adopted the beginning of October and that is where my time with the family ended; however, I think of them often. The mother also volunteers helping out other foster parents, does foster care recruitment, volunteers for her church, and much, much, more. I wish I had a fraction of her energy. She is the most thankful person for the smallest things. It would be great to see her get something back in return.

The Wright Stuff

The words to describe these kids, Josh and Rachel...are outgoing, full of life, endless smiles, intelligent, loving, sweet and gorgeous (they should really be models)! I absolutely loved being able to have the opportunity to spend time with them and capture all sides of their personalities.

Rachel had a knack for 'smiling' for the camera, but I loved when I was able to capture that soft, sweet look. Just stunning!Josh was pure joy, and so free with the camera! I love his eyes and his generous heart that you can see in them! Watch out ladies...better yet, watch out Mom and Dad!These two were so playful and I just loved the interaction between them.Cute tootsies!How sweet...I can just imagine this same image at Rachel's wedding day!Both of them love to read...Rachel is into the Vampire series.Josh is into an eclectic group of books. Not only is Josh super intelligent, he can recite all 50 states in under 20 seconds!Rachel's reading corner, and her fun, pink and girly bedroom. She loves Josh, Miley and......she really loves Patrick!One of my personal favorites of the bunch!Awww...I mean, he's just so sweet!I got a fun series of shots with Josh's favorite hat...but I love this one.Josh brought out some of his favorite things...including this cool dragon.With the first major Colorado snow storm, we had to go outside to take some 'wintery' photos...and when there's snow...there's snowballs! Watch out!

Thanksgiving

I wanted to post a little thanks to all the wonderful people in my life...friends and family. I have so much to be thankful for, and I would write everything down, but my list would be too long! Thanks to the Wright family for hosting a wonderful Thanksgiving Day. I'm blessed to have spent it with you, the Mahoneys, my parents and bro in snowy Colorado. It was a wonderful weekend.My parents and brother, Kevin.

After a wonderful meal, we spent our evening making graham cracker houses. We didn't have the frosting part down until later in the evening...hence the mess. But, we finally got it down to make it look somewhat of a house.

I was having a blast sharing the holidays with one of my closest, and oldest friend, Dana. Here we are reinacting our junior high days! Cousin It?

The Dyer Family

I have been long over due with posting...and what better way to pick back up during the holidays and be able to show you a beautiful family...The Dyers. Punkins from the patch

It was the most perfect fall day last weekend...and I was so lucky to be invited to Swans Trail Farms (where I helped photograph a wedding this summer...pictures to come) to photograph all the fun that goes on at the Farm during their pumpkin patch season. The highlight was to be able to capture such fun memories for families and get some amazing photographs of their little ones in action. And with over 800 edited photographs...it was certainly hard to choose from, so the full gallery is at http://jenmacniven.smugmug.com/.

The fall colors were amazing...and with so much to do, the photographing was endless. A huge 12 acre corn maze (in the shape of WA State)......the pumpkin patch...with lots of lil punkins...check out this cutie!Activities of all sorts...playing in the sand, fishing ponds, streams to pan for gold in...and the FOOD...oh, the food! Hot cinnamon buns, carmel apples, spiced cider donuts, kettle corn, BBQ sandwiches, corn on the cob...making me salivate thinking about it!This kiddo clearly had everything I just mentioned...his sticky little face just cracks me up.The petting zoo and animal shows were a huge hit with the kiddos. Love the little piglet tails. These guys did a fun '3 little pigs and the big bad wolf' skit.This miniture pony could have fit in my back pocket...and had I not looked suspicious with a pony in my pocket...I would have taken him home! One of the major hits with the kiddos were the jumping hay barn...literally piled with lose hay and bails piled around the edges so the kids could JUMP off the bails and land softly. It was a great place for some family photos too. All the kids out there were so uberly cute and it was a photographing dream. Precious kiddos with cute fall clothes on and having the time of their lives...playing...what could be better? Someone's got a monkey on his back.

The second hot spot of the farm (in my opinion..and it was probably my favorite) was the shed filled with dried corn kernels. It felt amazing on the feet and was so fun to roll around in. The kids AND parents had the best time playing in here.

Daily Commute

For the past couple of years, this has been the majority of my daily commutes...and although flying can be tough...I have to look at the positive side of it all. The view, obviously, does not get any better!

I can dream about sitting on the soft, puffy clouds...sometimes I even see angels waving at me.

I love seeing all the cool patterns of the earth...that make it so incredible.

Or the rough terrain...that can look so serene and majestic.

The colors of the sunsets...like a painting splattered with all the colors of the rainbow.

I can keep my brain active by completing a sudoku puzzel

Or keep up on the latest information ...however, after I read it once...the rest of the 28-30 days of the month til the new issue comes out is a drag.

If I feel so inclined...I could even shop on my commute.

And thankfully, will sipping my beverages...I'm supporting a great cause! My commute takes me all over the place...portland, coos bay, medford, boise, billings, missoula, idaho falls, anchorage...and sometimes...I get a layover in Denver.
What a treat to have my brother, Kevin...what a cutie, come to join me during my layover and to have dinner with me. Might as well make a little portrait session out of it...right?

And when it's all over, I say goodbye to Kevin...and on my way for the rest of my commute.

Remember the sexy couples I got to photograph at Image X? Well here are more of my favorite images. The reflection was amazing, they were so relaxed and the moment is so romantic.This couple were definitely out to look HOT!

This couple were the ones that we had 2 minutes each to pose...then others could photograph over our shoulders. This was the fun scene I had them interacting in...a big Coors Lite with straws...what could be sweeter? ;)

New Orleans is a fascinating place to photograph ...and with the help of models...perfect!

The movement in this photograph makes this one of my favorite! Jessica Claire was the instructor for this course and gave ideas on how to coach the brides and grooms so that we , the photographers, could capture those special interactions.

It was awesome to see Jessica in action. Even though these two are not a real couple, they did an amazing job with their interactions.

Check out her gorgeous eyes and porcelain skin...stunning.

During the time that we had to photograph our 'brides and grooms', we had three different couples, so I will be posting some of my favorites from each couple in the near future.

Phillip-Senior Pics

I had the pleasure of being able to take Phillip's Senior Pictures at the beginning of October...and with his love of water and boats, we decided to head down to Gas Works Park.Phillip was pretty much up for anything and he could turn on the serious look in a heart beat...hello...Abercrombie...are you seeing this?He had an adorable...um, I mean HANDSOME smile too.

I love the light in this shot...I told him to run after the geese...and he did...what a willing sport.

All guys need that laid back, just hangin out portrait. This one certainly depicts that.

And last, but not least, a beautiful picture of Phillip and his gorgeous mom, Amy. I absolutely love this picture! Amy is a Southern gal at heart and went to Auburn University too.

Two worlds collide

I love how my two worlds can collide! Kyle Baumgartner...a superhero in my book...has recently been featured on our local news b/c of the amazing recovery he has made using Bioness devices. Bioness is the company I've worked for as a Clincial Specialist for the past 2 1/2 years...utilizing my Masters in Physical Therapy degree...yes, I have two jobs.

Kyle suffered a severe brain injury several years ago...and was actually given a very poor prognosis. Pure determination, strength and support from his loved ones has been the reason for the miraculous recovery . I met Kyle almost 2 years ago when I was trying to help him get our upper extremity device (Ness H200). Several months later, he instead got the Ness L300 (for foot drop) and the words he shared with me will always ring in my ear "this has changed my life." Tears practically streamed down my face when I heard that. Today, with the help of both devices, he continues to make great strides (no pun intended).

Kyle and I formed an unique friendship and I was honored when I got to photograph his beautiful family last year...you may remember the family session I did at the beginning of my blogs...literally...the third post on my blog! Well, included with Kyle's amazing progress that's featured on the news clip, one of the photos I took was also shown. Just so fun to see both my worlds come together...and so beautifully.

Thanks Kyle for sharing this with me! Congratulations on the success of spreading the message and to show the world what an amazing person you are! Keep up the great work!

IMAGE X: Brides and Grooms, Kiddos and Lizards too

The Image X workshops have become a stepping stone in my photography career...I am thankful and blessed to have been able to attend. Stay tuned for more beautiful photos from New Orleans and from the wonderful models who joined us.

We had a range of personalities from the kiddos we were working with. Twirling, giggling and carefree...this little girl was a show stopper.

A bit more shy, this little guy didn't want to be part of the crowd...so I caught a moment of him hanging out by himself...contemplating...with truck in hand.

During one of the workshops, we were graced from a little lizard, who decided to jump on Tamara Lackey's camera while she was showing us how to get kids attention. Sweet trick Tamara... don't know that I'll be able to replicate that one!

I will share more of my photographs and memories in the days to come. For now...TGIF!

Amy- Senior Portraits

I had such a fun time this past weekend being able to capture the true beauty of a gorgeous young adult...Amy (John's neice). Amy was so excited to get her senior portraits taken but has already found, it's going to be a tough decision with which picture she wants to put in the yearbook since she looks amazing in all of them!

Amy's already said that she definitely wants one with water in the background...I think this may be her final answer!

Amy has the most amazing eyes and smile. This particular pose captures that true beauty...believe me, I took a lot of these.

Amy is such a sweetheart, loves her friends and family to pieces, is full of energy and has an infectious personality. Oh yeah, and having just turned 18... she gets to help us vote in the up coming election! Vote wisely my dear ...the future is in your hands.

As with most young adults, their phones are prized possessions...this case remains true with Amy. Addicted could be the choice word, so, naturally, I had to capture this bonding moment.

Amy, I'm so excited for you and your Senior year! I can't wait to see what all life has to offer

Ridiculously Cute!

With so many ridiculously cute pictures of Brody, it was hard to limit myself from sharing so many precious moments. How can one resist this look...it would easily make a mom or dad melt.
Or these eyes...hello?!

The bonding between boys...simply the best thing to witness. Chuck and Brody share tender, yet 'manly', fun, and playful moments together. These two have years ahead of them that will be full of memories such as this.

The bonding b/w Mom and baby is something that can not be broken, and the bond is beyond explanation...so complex on so many levels. So SWEET!

The details that parents love to remember... the bed they lay their
little one to sleep in each night. The tender features of eyelashes, tiny feet and toes, the cutest rolls and baby bottoms, the laughter, and those heart shape lips that love to blow bubbles.

Thank you all for allowing me to come into your home and document your beautiful family and I certainly can't wait to see you all again soon! All my best!

Hiking at "Ghost Mountain"

When I first arrived in Seattle ELEVEN YEARS AGO, I oftened referred to Mt. Rainier as the "Ghost Mountain". Depending on the weather, you could you either see her in all her glory...or as I've done many times...point out the direction that she would be if the clouds didn't cover her up. This weekend in late August, the "Ghost Mountain" she was not. Out in all her glory, Mt.Rainier welcomed us on a beautiful sunny day.

John and I had a fun 7 mile hike all around Sunrise...The view was majestic and Mt.Rainier was unbelievably impressive with her shear size!

I love capturing all the beauty that make this hike so breathtaking...the tall trees, jagged peaks, glacier water, wildflowers and even the tiniest of creatures.

After our long afternoon of hiking, John and I snacked on wine, cheeze, crackers and SMORES! Now that's some fancy camping! Here's John getting' his smores on at our campsite.
Along with the beauty of the day...the nighttime brought us sparkling lights that filled up the sky in infinite numbers. I even captured a shooting star/satellite zooming by.

What a wonderful day!

Halle Bee and Owsey too

Halle Bee... a beautiful little 4 year old...nicknamed 'Bee' b/c she was said to be buzzing around in her Mom's belly when she was pregnant with her...is such a delight to be around. Her infectious grin (mind you, there were pouts too..which are equally as cute) was so fun to capture. This session was a special one b/c Halle was blessed to receive the CUTEST, and most girly, fluffy, skirt as a gift. Today was the day she got to prance around feel pretty.

I love the detail of the flower in her hair. What little girl wouldn't love this?

How adorable...I want one of these skirts...seriously!
After a few minutes of showing me how well she can pout...Halle then put on her smiley face and wouldn't stop with the giggles and the 'look at me' poses.

True 4 year old sassiness at it's finest. Just makes me giggle...LOVE IT!

Little brother Owen, nickname...Owsey...wanted to get in the action too.However, being a true little boy form, he went straight for the dirt pile. That smirk can only mean one thing...trouble. No keeping those clothes cleaned!

He was quite the little helper with the shovel, and then realized, just rolling around was way more fun.Who couldn't melt over this tender little kiss that Halle is giving to her little brother.

Miss Riley couldn't be forgotten...since she was the first kiddo of the family. HAPPY DOG!

Welcome to world baby Dano! If you remember Megan and Greg (aka. Team Gregan)...these were the little feet that were kicking around in Megan's perfectly round baby bumb.
Megan has that perfect motherly instinct...I love this tender and quiet snuggle.

I love my job! I mean, how fun is it to interact with kiddos, play (yes, I said play), and capture sweet moments like this? Grace, who just turned ONE, made me giggle and smile a ton... something Katie (her mom) said was rare when they tried to take pictures of her.I love how Grace was fully

Grace was typical little one...constantly on the move. I love how this picture depicts such a stillness and quietness. So sweet!One of the most rewarding moments of the day was when Katie stated, with a sense of relief, "I'm so impressed how well Grace does with you...you have made this all so painless". From a previous experience of 'getting photos taken', everything was very posed and took over 3 hours. My philosophy is to have fun, be in a natural, comfortable setting...and to just capture moments, expressions...people being people.

Katie, I'm glad I was able to make this experience enjoyable for you all and I'm so thrilled that you love the photos. Thank you for your trust, letting me come into your home and document Grace at this precious age. I look forward to working with you all again soon.

Baby Stella and Baby Jacob...Cousins

I can't help but posting a lot of photos when it comes to babies...I mean, every little detail is worth documenting. I was tickled to be able to photograph Baby Jacob (now 3 months) again along with his new cousin, baby Stella.

Stella is beyond precious... look at that little bottom, her pouty little lips and button nose. So CUTE!Mom and Dad's comforting hands ... I love this moment.Here are the proud parents...and look at how happy Stella is to have them.This interaction is priceless. Dad's gentle smile and how he's holding Stella with one arm...a softness and strength surrounding his baby girl.
Stella was born a month early, and these pictures were actually taken around her due date. She weighed a mere 7 lbs...and her features are still so tiny. Her foot, barely the length of dad's finger.
And her little hand...itsy bitsy.
Stella graced us for a few minutes with her eyes open... a deep rich blue.
The happiness and love of a new family.
This scene just cracks me up. Stella's middle name is 'Sayuri'...so a friend of the family got her some saki as a present. Looks like she had a little much the way she's crashed out. ;) Cousin Jacob has grown so much in the past three months. He looks like a little man and is developing such a personality.Those eyes just sparkle.These two cousins are undoubtably some of the cutest around. These precious photos were captured as a gift for their grandma...what a lucky grandma she is! Check out those adorable smirky grins from little Stella and Jacob.

I recently entered a contest (contest@merakoh.com) with this photo. The theme was 'pets'...and I have TONS of pet photos. This fella just completely makes me giggle and his 'so ugly, it's cute' face stares at me every morning from my next door neighbors porch. How could that not brighten your day? Hope it adds a little giggle to your day too. Tee hee!

Doreen is possibly the sweetest lady I've met! Her heart is pure and her life is genuine. I met Doreen at a wedding (her grand daughter is Alisa, whose wedding I photographed) and she asked me if I could take her headshots. Why you ask? Because at the young age of 78 (she's gorgeous...78? Remarkable!), Doreen has co-authored a book:

"Growing Toward God: Life Lessons Inspired by the Wonderful Words of Kids"

Doreen, I wish you all the best in publishing your book and thank you for letting me be a bit of the process (and John too...the 'reflector guy'). I can't wait to read the book! Best wishes and God Bless!

Announcing Mr. and Mrs. Stark

It's always an honor to witness 'true love' and my friends', Brent and Lisa, wedding was a justification of this love. To capture this moment of happiness, pure joy,a new Mr. and Mrs., is priceless.

The first dance was a peaceful and loving moment. And the father-daughter dance was just so moving.Lisa poured her heart and soul into the details of the wedding and everything came out perfect. Brent is a pilot, and the placecards were to honor him. Airplanes attached to a banner with a name tag listing a destination (table) that we had to fly to. Very cute! More of the fabulous details

Cutting of the cakes Sweet kissesI met Lisa through Team in Training, and here are our fabulous friends from TNT. Brent and Lisa's nephew was quite the Rico Suave...and a smooth dancer.
Brent and his AirForce buddies serenaded "You've lost that lovin' feeling" to Lisa.
Lisa serenaded "Busta Move" to Brent...LOL.
The dancing was awesome and everyong had the most fantastic time.
Congratulations to Brent and Lisa! May your lives be filled with happiness, love, success and lots of little Starks running around! Love you both!

A Day at the beach

It was a brisk early summer day in Mukilteo and John's family decided to have a little fun at the beach. This family is just too precious and I love being able to capture their personalities when I'm around. Carl is very inquisitive and rushed quickly down to the beach and immediately started moving rocks...to find "something moving". The Hermit crabs had no chance... Owen emulated big brother, and too was looking hard for something unique on the beach.Proud of his find, Owen showed Uncle John and Janie his little crab he found.Here's a little guy Carl found.Amy, Megan, Janie and Brian...loving brother and sisters....and just adorable! Here's all the girls (Janie, Katie, Megan, Lisa, Amy and Karen)

I couldn't stop laughing at this 'tough guy' shot...their just so sweet and innocent to be throwing a gangsta look. Boys will be boys ;).

Jennie and Vichet- Engagement Session

I had the pleasure of being able to document a couple's enduring love for one another and the pictures that will mark their 'engagement'...however, they have been together for over 9 years. Without even seeing their faces, you can already feel the gentle love, generosity and playfulness between the two.
Jennie and Vichet met through friends in their hometown of Wenatchee. They now live in Seattle...their new home, and got engaged last Septemeber. I just adore the way Vichet and Jennie meld together and make such a beautiful couple.
This moment captures an essense of calm and pure happiness. I love the serene look on Vichet's face as he snuggles up with his sweetheart.Jennie's smile let's us all know that he is the ONE!
I had to laugh when taking this photo, b/c it all happened naturally...a little sassy stance from Jennie, and that confident pose with Vichet checking out his gorgeous fiance that says...
"Uh huh, that's right boys, she's mine!"
I felt like I was spying on a special moment here...
Who could pass up a little kissing infront of this skyline.I want to thank you both for letting me capture this magical time in your life and I look forward to your wedding in August. I'm sure it will be a blast!

Meet the Crosby's

Meet the Crosby's... This was a surprise photo session taken as a present for their parent's anniversary in August.
Julie (back row in pink) and her twin brothers, sister in law, neices and nephews all gathered together to document this growing family.

With 9 people running around and three rambuncious boys all beating eachother up, it was quite the challenge.

But I managed to get them to have fun and capture their personalities.

I'm sure the Crosby's parents will love all of the photos that were caught (with everyone's eyes open and minus goofy faces) ;) !

4th of July with Friends

John and I got to spend a wonderful 4th of July with some friends, Carolyn and Phil.
Phil is a new boat owner, so we took out his prized possesion to Kirkland to have a little dinner and watch the fireworks.

I love capturing moments when people least expect it, Carolyn was laughing at her sweetie, Phil's, silly antics.

The firework shows (yes, mulitple...Bellevue, Kirkland, Lake Union, Elliot Bay and we think...Bill Gates had his own too) were amazing! This one, I call Angle Dust, is one of my favorites!

Every firework left a colorful and sparkly glow on the water, which added to the 'ooohs' and 'ahhhs'.
